Metro has been around probably before you heard the catchy DJ tags he uses at the beginning or throughout his mainstream releases. Did you know the tag “Metro Boomin’ want some more nigga?” comes from the Metro, TM88 & Sonny Digital produced coincidentally titled “Some More” performed by the wild-card of contemporary Trap, Young Thug.
The two have also gone on to collaborate under the moniker of Metro Thuggin’…which I’m still waiting for an album for. Yet, the two have released mostly loosies, such as the Drake sampled “Blanguage“, “Warrior“, “Hercules” and “Chanel Vintage” featuring the ATLien Future.
In my opinion, and hopefully one amongst today’s new Hip-Hop heads and fans of TRAP music; an album by the ever in demand, Metro Boomin’ is what we want more of.
He has collaborated with many Hip-Hop veterans and the new-age rappers that are progressively becoming more popular. Gucci Mane, Travis Scott, Ludacris, Kanye West, Waka Flocka among more. He even contributed additional production to A-Trak and Lex Luger’s Electronic/Trap project “EP1“. Young Metro also released his solo track “Young Forever” as recent as November. Metro had such an influential 2016, what’s stopping him from completely taking over the airwaves in 2017?
If Metro were to release a solo album as a producer, as happy as I would be with all the tracks produced by him, I can’t help but think about all the producer collaborations he could get on an album as well.
For example; TM88, Zaytoven, DJ Spinz, Southside & Tarentino.
Although the thought of the album being entirely instrumental is worth drooling about, I can’t help but think of the features that could possibly come up.
Future, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, TY$, 2 Chainz, 21 Savage, KENDRICK LAMAR? Seeing all these names on one album, let alone, a producers, would be magnificent.
Finally, the reason why we need a Metro Boomin’ album? Because Hip-Hop is in such a good place at the moment! As well as the fact that 2016 provided many Hip-Hop albums that were exclusive or a surprise release, it would only make sense that one of the biggest rising stars behind the boards of many of the frontmen’s releases finally gives his fanbase more than just a credit on someone else’s album. But a full length project for us to bathe ourselves in.
Until an announcement of whatever sort arrives, I’m praying that 2017 will bless me with a Boomin’ Metro album.
