BadBadNotGood – Lavender (Remix) Review

The Nu-Jazz group, BadBadNotGood dropped a remix this weekend of their ‘IV’ fan-favourite, “Lavender” featuring Kaytranada…and West Coast OG Snoop Dogg.

While the beat has stayed intact, the heavy thumping bassline and creepy synths and drums allow Snoop to spit venomously and sound as hungry as he did when he first barked onto the scene.

His flow is slow and keeps that West Coast flavour that his fans and critics alike expect from the Rap legend. Snoop also blesses the track with a melodic chorus, which shows how diverse, individual and fresh his sound is nearly 30 years on.

While BadBadNotGood haven’t released any new solo material since the release of ‘IV’, judging from the work they’ve done with Wu-Tang member, Ghostface Killah, Earl Sweatshirt and now Snoop, their next album will hopefully contain some interesting Hip-Hop collaborators.
